The past 15 years have just been amazing. I remember as a child my parents telling me that televisions had been invented when they were kids. And they were a big deal. Being born in the early 1970's, I took a lot of things for granted. I grew up with color television and was also lucky enough to live in a community where cable was offered long before the advent of MTV. I remember my first cassette player and my first cassette. It was Paul Stanley. I am not a huge Kiss fan so I am not sure of the rationale, but I do believe that each member of the band (or at least 3 out of the 4) struck out on their own solo endeavor. I am also not sure of the rationale of my mother who saw it fit to give me that Paul Stanley cassette on my 7th birthday. Technological advances in consumer electronics at that point in time seemed to have an eternity between them. I just read today that there is an expectation that major music labels will no longer issue releases on compact disks by the end of 2012. My daughter will not know what life was before the iPhone, iPad, iMac, and Apple TV. Fifteen years ago I am not even sure if the term "blog" was invented. As I typed up papers on my old Dell 486 I don't think I ever could envision sitting on the couch 15 years later, creating a blog on an iPad as my daughter was watching movies on Apple TV. A lot has changed in my lifetime and I do believe it is for the much better.
Over the past 15 years, something else has changed. As a lifelong fisherman who got hooked on the sport at about the same time that I heard Paul Stanley's solo attempt, I did not get hooked on the fly until my mid-20's. It has been a great trip. Fly fishing has afforded me the ability to see many great places and meet many great people, not to mention wetting a line here and there. This blog will largely focus on the passion I have for everything fly fishing. Thanks for stopping by.
